Hamilton – The Ontario government is investing $9,156,200 million at McMasterUniversity and $3,492,400 at MohawkCollege to make campus improvements, Ted McMeekin, MPP Ancaster-Dundas-Flamborough-Westdale and Sophia Aggelonitis, MPPHamiltonMountain announced today.
“Today’s students will build Ontario’s future economy. Our government is improving the quality of postsecondary education for students by investing in key campus improvements at MohawkCollege and McMasterUniversity,” said Aggelonitis .
“The Hamilton community will benefit today through a boost to the local economy with new spending and jobs and in the future through an investment in our students.” Added McMeekin.
This funding will help McMasterUniversity and MohawkCollege complete priority projects related to energy efficiency and campus safety and make upgrades and improvements to existing facilities.

These funds will allow us to modernize our classrooms and labs to ensure our students are best prepared for today's workforce, invest in campus safety for students and maintain our aging buildings. It is gratifying that John Milloy, Minister of Training Colleges and Universities along with our local representatives Minister McMeekin and MPP Aggelonitis understand clearly that through these types of investments Ontario will build a strong economy through our graduates." “This funding is part of our government’s overall strategy to invest in the people of Ontario through strategic infrastructure improvements and new job creation,” said John Milloy, Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities. “It is also an important investment in tomorrow’s workforce by creating better, safer learning environment for our students.”
This campus renewal funding is part of the $1.4 billion announced in the Fall Economic Statement for strategic infrastructure investments.
