ONTARIO IMPROVING ACCESS TO COMMUNITY BASED HEALTH SERVICES

Residents in Hamilton Niagara Haldimand Brantnow have better access to health care services closer to home as the Ontario government injects new funding into community-based health.

The $15,821,291 in additional funds for Niagara Haldimand Brant for 2008/09 is part a $127 million investment in health care services across the province that will be delivered to a variety of locations within the community.  With high demand for services such as addiction treatment and home care, this funding will provide better care for some of our most vulnerable citizens.

The additional funding includes:

§         $267,420 for addiction treatment services

The area LHINwill allocate the funding to the community agencies and long-term care homes in its area.
